Edgar Allegre, Mexico City, Mexico

NFT "Big 3" Art Collection

As a high-performance athlete in his teens, Edgar fell in love with the sport of tennis, not only as a player but also as a media collaborator and content producer. With a Master of Arts in Communication from Pepperdine University and a background in computer art and 3-D animation, this French national currently living in Mexico City is most passionate about sports, art, and technology.

Edgar Allegre

The challenge for him was not only writing engaging news stories but also producing the images to illustrate them in a unique, creative, and captivating way. In 2016 and 2017, he was named the Press Chief of one of the 10 most important junior tournaments in the world. Since 2007, he has developed more than 5,000 pieces of sports content for the online magazine Flashtennis.

“Roger Federer, God's Creation”, "Nadal, King of Clay" and "Djoker!" comprise the collection of digital NFT images he has produced as a homage to one of the most exciting tennis eras in history, that of the “Big 3”. Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, three masters of whom he considers himself extremely fortunate to be a witness of their genius and legacy.

10 percent of the primary market sales of the collection will be donated to the following tennis program in the U.S.A. - First Break Academy in Los Angeles, California.

Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, and Novak Djokovic are considered by many to be the best tennis players of all time with millions of followers around the world. The NFT collection Tennis Art Big 3 will be owned by just one lucky tennis fan!

A Pro With Every Court Reservation Could Become A Reality

Doug Cash Joins the BTB Podcast

Doug Cash, the founder of CashFlow Tennis, joins the BTB Podcast and discusses how Covid has changed the club industry and what to expect as we head through 2021.

Doug-Cash.jpg

Nothing will remain untouched by the virus, says Doug. From the large fitness national chains which have lost up to 70 percent of their monthly dues revenues, through to country clubs which, on the other hand, have been seen as sanctuaries and have raised dues. Every facet of club membership is evolving as Covid declines.

Doug escaped the on-court grind of the industry and moved into management in which he has worked with over 50 clubs. He received a few calls asking for help back at a time when there were few who knew how large clubs could operate profitably and has never looked back. Moving into the arena of growing the game, Doug has worked with the USTA and the Tennis Industry Association.

Cash, like most management consultancies in the business, recommends that dues and initiation fees should go up on an annual basis. If not, over time, the club will find itself in dire financial straits.

A Pro On Every Court

Doug relates how some clubs in the Northeast are requiring a professional on every court. “You can’t make a court reservation without a pro,” says Doug. Doug sees this as the way forward and will be a function of tennis clubs in the future. “The pro-led hour of court time is so much better in the long run. You hit more balls, you have more fun, you learn a little bit, the pro is a ringmaster… you get more exercise and you don’t have to worry if your fourth shows up.”

Antiquated Compensation Packages Need Revision For This Century

Doug dislikes the antiquated payment and compensation models that currently exist in the tennis industry. As is said widely, the house always wins. If paid through a percentage, an instructor is always hampered by the club’s cut which remains the same percentage, even as lesson and clinic prices go up.

Doug believes because of this, there is a scarcity of teaching professionals, with clubs now across the country clamoring for new professionals to meet current and much higher demand. Although compensation is going up slowly due to the lack of supply, Doug feels that raising club dues and initiation fees over the long term can inhibit raises in lesson and clinic rates.

Doug notes that a starting truck driver for Walmart makes $82,000 per annum starting out as a brand new driver. “Very few starting tennis professionals start out at that level,” says Cash who feels that compensation simply starts out too low right from the outset.

Doug is a specialist in creating cash flow within a department. And he gives us a couple of his secrets along the way on the podcast. So click above and have a listen as he discusses how we, as an industry, will need to adjust even more than we have post-Covid. And, if you like our podcast series, please subscribe on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to your podcasts.

HEAD in 7th Heaven

Everyone at HEAD PennRacquetsport must have been very happy about the results of 2021 Wimbledon after that fabulous Triple at the French Open.

HEAD-NovakDjokovic.jpg

It was an all-HEAD final at Wimbledon on Sunday with world #1 Novak Djokovic winning the title over Matteo Berrettini 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. Djokovic continues to close in on the history books with his 6th Wimbledon trophy. He has swept the first 3 major titles of the year and his win marks his 20th major title - which ties Nadal and Federer for the All-Time Men's Grand Slam Titles record. Djokovic endorses the Speed Series.

HEAD-AshleighBarty.jpg

World number 1, Ashleigh Barty took the Wimbledon Title over Pliskova 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-3 on Saturday. With the win, she becomes the first Australian woman to win the title in 41 years. Barty was a Wimbledon junior champion more than a decade ago, so being back on the grass in a singles final "felt like home" for her. The Wimbledon win becomes her second career singles Grand Slam, adding to her Roland Garros trophy from 2019. She endorses the HEAD Gravity Series.

Global Tennis Partner

We want to hand over our tennis app: Global-Tennispartner

Some years ago we've launched the app Global-Tennispartner just for fun. In the meantime, it got globally more than 26.000 entries (players, coaches, clubs, hotels, and resorts) and is currently slowly growing without any marketing activities - and now we are about to hand over Global-Tennispartner to somebody who wants to move it forward.

The app was mainly built based on our own experiences to satisfy the needs of traveling tennis players – whether it's holiday or business. Away from home, you have access to courts around you and you can find somebody for a match. Based on ITN, a rating that represents a player's general level of play and is recognized internationally it is possible to check the level of potential partners to ensure that you get on court with somebody on a similar level. This system can be adapted easily to national rating systems (e.g. already established for Germany and its LK-system) and is calculated in the background to display a unique number.

GTP New York.jpg

After registration only with the fundamental data, you're displayed on the map at your home base and can directly be contacted by other players and contact anybody worldwide. In addition, you can set a so-called “holiday marker” at the place you're traveling to. This is displayed from the day you set it until you leave the place again and ensures that you are visible to everybody.

From a marketing perspective, the app is a powerful communication tool to deliver real value for numerous players in the tennis and tourism industry: hotels, resorts, clubs, coaches … etc – besides its core function of connecting players. First of all, you are simply visible for players and you can offer your services and, maybe most important, you are present in the moment of interest. After being in touch with a player you've connected to before, while, and as well after he or she is around and with the implemented push notification service you can stay in contact for future business. Several money-generating services are implemented but so far not used, e.g. additional services.

To ensure that the app can be used worldwide we have installed an easy-to-use multi-language database. So far German and English are implemented. Depending on the player's location the language will be selected and displayed. Other languages can be built-in via a text database.

GTP Hamburg E.jpg

The app is built for iOS and Android and is running smoothly on smartphones and tablets:

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.global_tennispartner&hl=en_US

iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/global-tennispartner-gtp/id686081507?mt=8

More information can be found as well on a website that is up and running in English and German so far: en.global-tennispartner.com

For the future, we simply do not have the time to push the app forward and are looking for tennis-maniacs to take it over and push Global-Tennispartner to the next level. For us, it was a journey full of fun and we hope that our baby will grow and moves into the future.

Slinger Bag Presented at the OTC Markets Virtual Conference

Mike Ballardie, Slinger Chief Executive Officer, presented at the OTC Markets Small Cap Growth Investor Conference on Thursday, July 8, 2021.

Mr. Ballardie provided the live virtual audience with a corporate update about the Company's progress in its successful expansion into the global tennis market with the Slinger Bag Tennis Ball Launcher, the Company's recent acquisition of SaaS technology platform Foundation Tennis, and Slinger's growth plans for its 2021 fiscal year.

Slinger Bag Management Team
Slinger Bag expanding

Ballardie pointed out that Slinger was built on 3 platforms:

- Transportability (Wheels, compact design)

- Versatility (144 balls, remote control)

- Affordability ($590-700 instead of several thousands of dollars)

He called Slinger Bag an "almost must-have piece of equipment" targeted at all tennis players from kids to top players.

Ballardie sees the marketing opportunity for Slinger at 20% of 100Mio total adult players which amounts to a staggering 20Mio players. The global tennis market is $10Bio and future opportunities can be found eyeing the $132Bio global sports equipment market. He says, "And we really have no competitor there."

Slinger entered into an agreement with Dunlop covering the Central Europe market worth an estimated $100Mio. Other international business deals in the hopper could amount to $200Mio within the next six months.

Ballardie sees an excellent future for Slinger in Pickleball (U.S.) Padel (Europe, South America), Soft Tennis (Japan), Baseball/Softball (U.S.), and Cricket (Europe, Asia).

Slinger Bag currently has 50,000 users and they're trying to monetize the 1Mio users of Foundation Tennis, a SaaS Technology Platform they recently acquired. Profit margins for Slinger are high since they only sell through a few sales channels including their own.
