PTR Debuts Online Certification
To address the need for coaches to become certified during a time of social distancing, Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) developed a virtual Level 1 Certificated Tennis Instructor course. The seven-plus hour online educational course with eight specific domains and 29 individual lessons, is available to all coaches around the world.
Designed as a foundation to develop essential coaching fundamentals, this certification is for anyone who aspires to coach beginner junior to adult athletes. It is the perfect starting point for new professionals looking to pursue a career in tennis on a part time or full time basis. It’s ideal for those coaches who will be working under the guidance of a program director assisting in the delivery of sessions.
The presentations, covering everything from the Fundamentals of Coaching to Marketing, are conducted by qualified coach developers. International Master Professionals, Dr. Louie Cap and Dan Santorum join Brian Parkkonen, Milena Stephens, Dean Hollingworth and Caitlyn Fries to introduce a variety of on-court and off-court topics. To ensure comprehension of the material, knowledge checks are included at the end of each video segment. Participants must successfully complete the final assessments to earn certification. Final certification is open to current PTR members; all participating coaches have the opportunity to join PTR. The Level 1 online certification course is $97 for PTR members; $147 for non-members (includes PTR membership through August 31).
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis coaches with more than 16,000 members in 131 countries. In the USA, PTR has the largest percentage of multicultural and women members of any tennis coaching organization. PTR is dedicated to inspiring, educating, certifying, and serving tennis teachers and coaches in order to grow the game.
